MerMay 2020 is upon us! Who's ready to make a splash? Y'all already know how much I love this time of year, as it gives me complete permission to draw one of my favorite subjects—mers—for an entire month without it feeling gratuitous (if mers could ever be considered gratuitous, that is). Needless to say, I'm diving into this month headfirst.
All MerMay long I'll be sharing a mer-iad of illustrations, comics, and more that feature merfolk of all sorts, each accompanied by questionnaires and quizzes in my Instagram story to involve all of you in my MerMay festivities! (with the added potential for prizes and giveaways for any eager participants 😉) So, for this introductory installment in my MerMay 2020 series, I want YOU to tell me who YOUR favorite mers are—fictional or otherwise—as well as any characters you might like to see mermified. Leave a comment or check my story to make your suggestions. Additionally, I've got a couple of slots available to do some mer-thened art trades or commissions, so D.M. me if you're interested doing something like that! Let's make this year a splash!
mermify [mɹ-mɪ-fɑi] (v.) to transform someone into a merperson; to add mer-content to a space, object, or document
