Macabre Memoir of Morbid Mermaids: Bad Ending (World of Horror)

Wrapping up MerMay with this scary scene inspired by the phenomenal and frightening (maybe even phenomenally frightening?) indie horror game World of Horror! If you're a fan of Junji Ito, Lovecraft, or just like spooky stuff in general, World of Horror is absolutely worth your time. It's a roguelite, meaning no two playthroughs are exactly alike, allowing for endless fun—and scares! You can also customize (or randomize) your playthrough to choose your player character, which timeline the story is set in, and even which of the (currently) five OLD GODs to oppose as its reawakening threatens life—and reality—as we know it. Can you tell I'm a fan?

One of the many mysteries you can be tasked with solving has you investigating the disappearances of students on your school's swim team, as well as profiling an enigmatic janitor obsessed with legends of mermaids (who can relate?). Seeing as it's MerMay, I thought it'd be fun to devise a bad ending to this particular mystery where the janitor is finally successful in creating a mermaid of his own (or, if you're playing as one of the male characters, a merman). Shock and horror aside, I'm sure Koji will come to like his new fins once his wounds heal!
