Last but very obviously not least in my series of Final Fantasy XV Centaurs is the handsome, the hardy, the hunky Gladiolus Amicitia! He certainly is quite the sPECtacle a-hmm-hmm-hmm :)
I’ve said many times before that there are really no limits when it comes to the possible variations of centaurs one (read: I) could come up with, but when it came time for me to taurify Gladio I genuinely felt that the classic horse-based centaur from Greek myth was the form that would suit him best. After all, horses are impressively powerful, majestic animals and Gladio is the undisputed muscle of the Chocobros both literally and figuratively: not only does he pack the most punch in battle, he puts his rippling pectorals on display at every available opportunity (sometimes not knowing how to button a shirt is a sign of generosity, not of stupidity). Strength aside, horses are probably better known for playing the role of steed throughout the better part of human history, lending their backs to tired two-leggers with sore feet. Gladio may physically carry his comrades once or twice throughout the course of Final Fantasy XV, but more importantly he functions as a motivating figure for the Chocobros to continue their journey when things take a bleak turn, pushing them to finish the tasks they’ve been saddled with and helping them see things through to the bitter end. (And on a personal note, I think Gladio would make an excellent steed if he were a centaur—he even comes with his own reigns! …yes I am once again talking about his pecs)
