Were You Worried About Me?

I told myself I wasn't going to do one of these, but then I had the perfect idea for a t-shirt design and, well, here I am, almost a month late to the party with a half-eaten box of Triscuits and a warm bottle of rosé.

It's no secret to anyone who's been around for a while that I've got a lot of love for Prompto Argentum of Final Fantasy XV, so I'm actually surprised it took me this long to get the idea to put him in this iconic still from Sailor Moon. Anyone familiar with XV's story will undoubtedly recognize the scene the subtitle is from (available in English if you swipe all the way to the end!), but for those who don't, allow me to give you some (relatively) spoiler-free context: imagine you have three beautiful boyfriends who would do anything in the world for you, but you have trust issues because of your Tragic Backstory™. After some hijinks on a train, you find yourself kidnapped by the Big Bad and figuratively locked away in a tower with no hopes of escape (literally, however, you're locked away in a spooky subterranean laboratory). Then, all three of your beautiful boyfriends come to your rescue, but, because of your aforementioned trust issues, you cautiously ask them "Were you worried about me?" like the insecure sweetheart that you are, to which your favorite boyfriend responds that "of course he was", and "what kind of question even is that", yadda yadda yadda. Still, the magic of XV is that it still manages to make such a silly question equal parts dramatic and heartwarming, and it only served to skyrocket Prompto near the top of my "Favorite Video Game Characters of All Time" list. Seeing how Sailor Moon has its fair share of melodrama and cheese yet remains one the most deservedly beloved animes of all time, doing a mashup of it with Final Fantasy XV was truly a no-brainer, even if it did take me almost a month to get the idea for it!
